Coconut Palm Tree (Cocos Nucifera) Plant
Common name: Coconut Palm
Botanical name: Cocos Nucifera
Also Known as:
- Coconut
- Coconut palm
- Cocotero

Cocos Nucifera palms are unbranched monoecious tree plants.
Coconut Palm Tree (Cocos Nucifera) Plant has an uncertain origin but assumed to be native to coastal areas of Melanesia and South-East Asia, around Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Papua New Guinea. They grow around sandy beaches in subtropical and tropical regions around the world.
Coconut trunks are smooth, columnar, and light grey-brown in color. They can grow as high as 30 meters. They are a flowering tree, with flowers growing in small, light yellow clusters, that emerge from canoe-shaped sheaths among the leaves.
Humans introduced these trees inland and most trees are planted and naturalized in parks, gardens, attraction spots, and much more. They thrive in abundant sunlight, a good source of water, and high temperatures throughout the year.
They can thrive on a wide selection of soils, ranging from coarse sand to clay, and can tolerate saline to infertile soils as well. As long as the soil has adequate drainage and aeration.
Light: Full bright sunlight, at least six hours a day
Soil: Use a mixture of half potting soil and half sand. Also, add some fine gravel or vermiculite to help aerate the soil.
Water: Keep the soil continuously moist with warm water, but do not soak the plant.
Fertilizer: Fertilize with a controlled-release palm fertilizer with a composition of 8N-2P2O5-12K2O+4Mg with micro-nutrients after the first year of growth.
(Flowering plants only blossom naturally in their respective seasons. Fruit-bearing plants only produce fruits naturally during their growing seasons. All plants are sold in generic nursery pots, and may naturally vary in colors/sizes from the exact images illustrated above.)
