An evergreen tree-like soft wooded perennial palm/tree.
Fan Palm is unsurprisingly a palm tree native to Mexico. It is easy to grow in well-drained soil in full sun to partial sun. It is drought, wind and salt tolerant. It is often used in coastal plantings but because of its height, it looks best in lawns with tall buildings or houses. It is also used in parking lots or as a street trees.
Washingtonia robusta needs full sun exposure. They resist intense heat and frost down to -8 ºC.
The soil can be a mixture of 2/3 of normal garden soil and 1/3 of coarse sand. The transplant is done in spring.
Water frequently (with little amount of water) during spring and summer (never flood); reduce watering the rest of the year. They are resistant to drought and more resistant to humidity than Washingtonia filifera.
Fertilize with compost in the fall.
They are palm trees resistant to pests and diseases.
(Flowering plants only blossom naturally in their respective seasons. Fruit-bearing plants only produce fruits naturally during their growing seasons. All plants are sold in generic nursery pots, and may naturally vary in colors/sizes from the exact images illustrated above.)
