Milky Way Plant (Wrightia Antidysenterica) is an outdoor perennial shrub plant.
Milky Way Plant (Wrightia Antidysenterica) is a compact, busy shrub that fills your garden with an endless display of beautiful white starry blooms in their season. In its native Sri Lanka and throughout India, Its glossy evergreen leaves are medicinal, used for treating skin disorders.. Juice from its bark was administered for mouth sores. And, its Latin name refers to its use against dysentery in the late 1700 and 1800.
A moderate grower with several short and divaricate branches that turn chocolaty brown as it ages, and adorned with dark green, ovate and acuminate leaves that are oppositely arranged. Pure white tubular 5-petaled flowers with yellow centers appear in corymb-like cymes at the end of branches.
Care and Growth:
Soil: The soil on which they are supposed to be grown must be well-drained.
Light: Prefers bright light or full sun; Can tolerate partial shade but will result in less flowers.
Water: Keep soil moist. Moderately drought tolerant for very short periods only. Does not accept over irrigation or water logging.
Temperature: During summer season or when the temperature is above 45°C place the plant in shaded area. During winter season or the when the temperature is below 45°C the plants can be directly placed in direct/indirect sunlight.
Fertilizer: Keep your plant in top form by feeding it every few weeks with a dilute solution of liquid fertilizer or sprinkling solid fertilizer over the soil.
